  • CDC: Get your Mass Gatherings or Large Community Events Ready for Coronavirus Disease 2019
A mass gathering is a planned or spontaneous event where the number of people attending could strain the planning and response resources of the community or country hosting the event. The Olympic Games, The Hajj, and other major sporting, religious, and cultural events are all examples of a mass gathering. Mass gatherings may stretch health systems beyond their capacity; however, these events also present opportunities for long-lasting positive effects such as a stronger public health systems after the event, or residents and visitors that are better informed about how they can protect themselves from certain diseases. At this time, educational activities and meetings using GoToMeeting(R) or GoToWebinar(R) technology are not affected.

WAPC staff is doing its part to flatten the curve. We are working from home and monitoring communications. We, as is everyone, are affected by school closings, social distances measures, and caregiving responsibilities. As such, we will maintain limited work schedules.

All WAPC, Perinatal Foundation, and WisPQC-led meetings have been canceled until June 1.

We are dedicated to serving the perinatal care community. Thank you for all that you are doing and will do for families in Wisconsin.

WAPC realizes that other factors should be considered when determining the status of in-person meetings.
